The Boys & Girls Clubs of Arlington and Greater Fort Worth soon will be a single organization.
The two boards of directors announced May 17 that they were consolidating the two to form the single largest Boys & Girls Club in Texas.
The merger will be effective in October.
Daphne Barlow Stigliano, the current CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Fort Worth, will be the CEO of the combined organization. Steve Wurm, CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Arlington, will be executive vice president.
The new organization will be called the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County.
“By combining resources, we can focus more effectively on improving the quality of our services and the reach of our mission,” John Broude, chairman of the board of the Fort Worth organization, said in a news release about the merger.
“Because our Boys & Girls Clubs are located where the kids and teens need us, in their communities and schools, this consolidation uniquely provides the benefits of combining resources without losing a strong local presence,” Mike Garro, chairman of the board in Arlington, said in the release.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Fort Worth was established under that name in 1990, with the consolidation of the Panther Boys Club, founded in 1926, and the Fort Worth Boys Club, founded in 1936.
The Arlington organization began in 1959 as the Arlington Boys Club and became the Boys & Girls Clubs of Arlington in 1991.
Combined, the organizations serve more that 21,000 youth.
The organizations said in the news release that the efficiency gains of the merger will be reinvested in the mission and that no employee reductions will take place.
