Fire destroys Granbury business

GRANBURY, Texas (AP) — A fire has destroyed a Texas rope production company.

The blaze was reported early Monday morning at Equibrand Corp. in Granbury, located about 40 miles southwest of Fort Worth.

Equibrand Corp. President Ken Bray tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram (http://bit.ly/1N0sjUT ) that the facility, which was a production center for rope and other equine products, is a “total loss.”

Bray says he believes the blaze may have been caused by an electrical problem, but fire investigators will be sifting through debris Tuesday to determine a ruling.

Hood County Fire Marshal Ray Wilson says a Granbury patrol officer en route to a separate call saw the flames. Officials say no one was in the building at the time.

Bray says they’ll rebuild. The company employs more than 80 people.
