Newsmakers: JTaylor adds four

BANKING & FINANCE

Julia Blair, PHR, joined the Administrative Division as a human resource manager. She received a bachelor’s degree in business administration-management from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in administration-organizational development from the University of The Incarnate Word in San Antonio. She previously was the human resource manager at LifeCare Hospitals of Fort Worth.

John Swaim, CPA, joined the Assurance Division as a senior manager. He has a bachelor’s degree in business accounting from the University of Phoenix. Previously, Swaim was audit manager at Chilton Wilcox & Fortenberry.

Thomas Wyatt joined the Tax & Business Services division as a tax associate. He has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Abilene Christian University and master’s in professional accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington. He previously was a general accounting analyst at Pier 1 Imports.

Victoria “Tori” Harms joins the Tax & Business Services division as a tax senior. She received a bachelor’s degree in business administration and master’s degree in accounting from Texas Christian University. She previously was a senior associate at KPMG.

Julia Nova has been promoted to vice president and commercial business development manager for Texas for the Bank of Texas. She will be responsible for the oversight of all commercial business development in Texas and will have direct reports in Dallas and Houston.

Nova joined Bank of Texas in November of 2014 as a business development officer for the Fort Worth Region Commercial Banking Group. She serves on the board of the Fort Worth Chapter of the Association for Financial Professionals and the Benbrook Economic Development Corp. She has been involved with Girls, Inc. for more than six years and is chairman for the Champions for Girls Giving Society. She was recognized by the Fort Worth Business Press last year as part of the 2017 class of 40 Under 40.

Goodwill Industries of Fort Worth Inc. announced that it will open a new attended donation center in a 1,410-square-foot leased space at Western Center Plaza, 2901 Western Center Blvd. on May 1.

LAW

Defense attorney Leticia “Letty” Martinez, a former state and federal prosecutor who is now a partner at the law firm of Varghese Summersett, has been appointed by Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick to the Child Fatality Review Team Committee. The regional teams are multidisciplinary, multiagency working groups that review child deaths on a local level from a public health perspective.

Sam Vinson has joined Winstead’s Corporate, Securities/M&A Practice Group as an associate in the Fort Worth office. He focuses on business and corporate transactions and represents clients in the areas of banking and finance, business formation, corporate governance, venture capital, operations and sales and acquisitions.

Vinson received his law degree magna cum laude from Washington and Lee University School of Law in 2013. He most recently practiced with McDonald Sanders PC.
