West Seventh Street Bridge closes Thursday

A. Lee Graham Reporter

The West Seventh Street Bridge closes at 8 p.m. Thursday June 6, allowing project contractor Sundt Construction Inc. 150 days to erect the remaining arches and begin bridge demolition. The bridge, estimated to cost $25.9 million, is expected to reopen before Thanksgiving. The Texas Department of Transportation designed the structure with six arch spans across the Trinity River to improve safety and pedestrian-bicycle access. The original bridge was built in 1913.
