With Fort Worth’s growing presence in the entertainment industry, it’s only logical the city would become a prominent part of the state’s largest entertainment festival.

And so, once again Visit Fort Worth is going to be a big part of South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin. The activation, branded Fort Worth on Rainey, will take place March 8-9 to open tech/innovation weekend, and will prominently feature Fort Worth music, food, spirits, technology and film.

The event, produced by Visit Fort Worth and High Beam Productions, will showcase Fort Worth’s appeal for visitors and business to SXSW’s national and international audiences.

Partners for the event include the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce (FWCC), the Fort Worth Promotion & Development Fund, Bell, Lockheed Martin, Mrs. Renfro’s Salsa, Clearfork, Mellow Johnny’s, Firestone & Robertson Distilling, Chef Tim Love, Printed Threads, Fort Worth Film Commission and Hear Fort Worth.

“We are excited to be at the heart of South by Southwest on Rainey Street,” said Bob Jameson, president and CEO of Visit Fort Worth. “We are grateful to our partners for investing in bold new marketing efforts like this.”

South by Southwest is an annual conglomerate of film, interactive media, and music festivals and conferences that take place in mid-March in Austin. It began in 1987, and has continued to grow in both scope and size every year. This year’s event runs March 8-17.

Fort Worth Now, the 2018 SXSW activation, was the first major collaborative initiative following strategic plans put into place by Visit Fort Worth, FWCC and the City of Fort Worth.

“South by Southwest is a global destination for professionals and a strong platform to boost awareness of our city. This is part of our plan to share the Fort Worth story in exciting ways,” said Mitch Whitten, executive vice president for marketing and strategy at Visit Fort Worth.
