Alamo Drafthouse DFW debuts premium large format theater
Alamo Drafthouse DFW will open its first theater in Denton Monday, June 18, a news release said.
Alamo Drafthouse Denton will be the first Alamo Drafthouse location in Texas, and only the second theater across the brand, to feature the company’s next-generation premium large format theatre, The Big Show, the release explained.
The 100 percent recliner, 232 seat theater will feature a state-of-the-art Sony 4K Laser Dual projection system optimized for the 66’ wide x 28’ tall curved screen and Dolby Atmos audio technology with 36 speakers.
“As a graduate of UNT’s Radio, Television, and Film department and a former Denton resident, I couldn’t be more thrilled to finally have an Alamo Drafthouse in such an artistically and creatively driven city,” James Wallace, Alamo Drafthouse DFW creative manager, said in the release. “It’s especially exciting to have our new premium large format theater, The Big Show, make its debut in North Texas at the Denton theater, and we can’t wait to work with the university and the city’s many arts organizations, film festivals, and arts community as a whole to bring Alamo Drafthouse’s signature brand of events and unique programming to the city’s cinephiles, students, families, and movie lovers alike.”
Alamo Drafthouse Denton, with eight auditoriums ranging from 49-232 seats and combined seating for 880 moviegoers, is the brand’s fifth North Texas location, and is part of the Rayzor Ranch Town Center, located at Interstate 35 and Highway 380 in Denton.
“We are so happy to welcome Alamo Drafthouse Denton, an exciting new entertainment venue to Rayzor Ranch Town Center,” Rayzor Ranch general manager Linda Hinton said in the release. “We know Denton and our surrounding communities have been awaiting the arrival of this new theater and will look forward to enjoying a top rated cinema experience just in time for the summer blockbuster season.”
Tickets will go on sale soon at drafthouse.com. Staff training days, where guests will be able to purchase discounted food and non-alcoholic drinks while staff train in the new space, will run June 18-21.
