FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — A Tarrant County mother has been charged with capital murder two years after her son died from abuse.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that a May 31 indictment accuses Jessica Langlais of causing the death of 2-year-old Adrian Langlais by striking him with or against a hard surface, injury to a child and failing to seek medical attention for the boy.

Jail records show Langlais was booked into the Tarrant County Jail on Monday with bail set at $500,000.

A hospital examination revealed Adrian had severe head trauma, multiple skull fractures and bleeding on the brain, and bruising and swelling on his face.

A month after Adrian’s death, Langlais’ then boyfriend, Christian Tyrrell, was arrested and accused of inflicting fatal injuries on the boy. He’s scheduled for a hearing in August.

A phone message seeking comment from Langlais’ attorney by the Associated Press was not immediately returned.
