TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities say a Tucson woman suspected of lighting a cat on fire tried to stab a fire captain early on Friday morning.

Firefighters responded to the apartment around 2:30 a.m. They say 41-year-old Ebony Hurndon lunged at a fire captain with a knife as he tried to enter the smoky apartment, striking him in the chest. The knife didn’t penetrate the firefighter’s jacket.

The woman threatened to stab anyone who tried to enter her apartment even as firefighters spotted a cat on fire on the top of the stove.

Police had to use an electronic stun gun to subdue the woman, who was naked.

Hurndon faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, arson of an occupied structure and animal cruelty.
