Former Justin Boot executive JT Dickenson dies

JT Dickenson, former CEO at Justin Industries, died Oct. 7 at age 89. Dickenson became president of Justin Boot Company, then COO of Justin Industries and then CEO of Justin Industries before his retirement in 2000. He then served as president of the Justin Foundation. He was also active on the boards of several Fort Worth area companies and was on the Executive Committee for the Southwestern Exposition and Live Stock Show and a member of the Jewel Charity Ball.

According to his obituary, Dickenson was born Feb. 25, 1930. HE received a football scholarship to Baylor University, graduating in 1951. He then married his wife, Frances Wailing, then served in the United State Air Force during the Korean War, achieving the rank of Captain. Dickenson then moved to Fort Worth in 1959 and began a 15-year career at General Dynamics. In 1974, he left to work at the Justin Boot Co., eventually becoming president.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday in Greenwood Chapel and visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood.

According to the obituary, donations may be made to the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund or the Humane Society of North Texas
