ARGYLE, Texas (AP) — Authorities say two women and their two young daughters were killed when their vehicles collided in a wrong-way crash in North Texas.

Denton police say 26-year-old Ashley Morgan’s vehicle was traveling southbound near Argyle on Saturday evening when it crossed into a northbound lane, crashing head-on into a vehicle being driven by 41-year-old Emma Lourdes Shaffer.

Morgan’s 4-year-old daughter, Lorelei Cotter, was riding with her, while Shaffer’s 12-year-old daughter, Emma L. Shaffer, was riding with her.

Police say Morgan and the 12-year-old in the other car died at the scene. The other two victims died at hospitals.

Police are still investigating but have said neither alcohol nor high speed was believed to have been a factor in the crash.

Argyle is located about 30 miles north of Fort Worth.
