Former Fort Worth banker who retired to Miami dies in altercation

Thomas Lang, a former Fort Worth banker who had retired to Miami, died Saturday, Sept. 10 following an altercation with a homeless man there.

Lang, 71, was the husband of former Samaritan House CEO Steve Dutton. According to law enforcement and media reports, the homeless man, Evans Celestin, has been charged with second-degree murder. According to reports Lang and Hutton were confronted by Celestin on Sept. 7 and the homeless man pushed Lang, who fell, hitting his head on the pavement.

Lang died three days later.

Funeral services for Lang will be held at Lena Pope Chapel, 3131 Sanguinet St. in Fort Worth at 6 p.m. on Oct. 24.
