One of Fort Worth’s premier and largest law firms is likely to close at the end of the year, say several area attorneys, some who recently worked at the firm. Shannon Gracey Ratliff & Miller LLP, Tarrant County’s third largest law firm, was founded in 1938 and has major clients locally, statewide and nationally.
Richard A. Lowe, managing partner at the 80-year-old firm, said the current partners are “considering a variety of options and business alternatives with the goal of continuing to represent our clients thoroughly and effectively.”
In a statement, Lowe said some partners have started the process of retiring and other attorneys with the firm have left for other opportunities. “No decisions have been formalized as these considerations continue,” he said.
Shannon Gracey has locations across the state in Dallas, Austin, Houston, Arlington and a location in Rhome.
Several attorneys recently left to form a new law firm, Bonds Ellis Eppich Schafer Jones LLP in Fort Worth on Nov. 1. Several other attorneys, including Lisa Jamieson, have left to join Pope, Hardwicke, Christie, Schell, Kelly & Ray of Fort Worth.
In his statement, managing partner Lowe noted: “Shannon Gracey Ratliff & Miller LLP has been serving clients with high quality legal services for more than 80 years. Since inception in Fort Worth, our attorneys have established a long legacy of legal integrity and community involvement.”
In 2013, Shannon Gracey, leased more than 36,000 square feet in the five-story downtown Commerce Building in Sundance Square.
