Perry to visit Fort Hood, update on shootings

FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) — Gov. Rick Perry plans to visit Fort Hood where a soldier being treated for mental illness killed three people and wounded 16 others before taking his own life.

Perry on Friday will be briefed by military officials and visit some of the victims of Wednesday’s attack blamed on Spc. Ivan Lopez.

The governor’s office says U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz will join Perry. Sen. John Cornyn on Thursday visited Fort Hood.

Four victims remained hospitalized Friday at Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple.

Perry has ordered all flags under state control to be lowered to half-staff in honor of the Fort Hood victims.
