Tarrant County College seeks input for former TXU plant

The Tarrant County College District board said Aug. 12 it is requesting recommendations for potential uses of the 103-year-old former TXU Power Plant the district owns on North Main Street across the Trinity River from TCC’s Trinity River Campus in downtown Fort Worth. TCC acquired the property when it purchased land for the Trinity River Campus East Center for Health Care Professionals, located at 245 E. Belknap St. TCC recently issued a Request for Interest and Qualifications to determine potential uses for the building and land. The college will consider all responses including selling the property and a joint venture or public-private partnerships for development.

Other options the school would consider are a land swap or any other potential development opportunity that an organization or individual would like to propose. The deadline for submission is Friday, Sept. 12, at 3 p.m. The request is available on line at: www.tccd.edu/Bid_Information/Current_Open_Bids.html Questions may be submitted by email with the subject line: TXU Power Plant RIQ to Michael Herndon, director of procurement, at michael.herndon@tccd.edu.
