Chicken Express has opened a new distribution center and cold storage warehouse in Burleson to help meet the needs of the rapidly expanding company.
Since opening two restaurants in Benbrook and Mineral Wells in 1988, the company has opened 200 more restaurants in Texas, Oklahoma, Georgia, Arkansas and Louisiana. Feeding those stores’ increasing demands led the firm to open a new distribution center after it outgrew its former facility.
“We had outgrown our facility,” said Ricky Stuart, co-owner of Chicken E. Food Service and Chicken Express, commenting in a news release.
“We looked at existing buildings but there was really nothing available with the specialized freezer and cooler facilities we needed,” Stuart said.
So the company decided to construct a new one, becoming the first tenant in the Burleson’s HighPoint Business Park.
Serving as design-build architect was Bob Moore Construction Inc. of Arlington, with Alliance Architects of Dallas serving as the primary architect for the distribution center. The firm occupied the 89,581-square-foot facility in July 2014.
