The Riverside Drive bridge crossing Northeast Loop 820 in Fort Worth will officially open on Monday October 20.

Constructed by Bluebonnet Contractors in partnership with the city of Fort Worth, the four-lane structure incorporates roundabouts and landscaping at both ends. The bridge is the last major component to be completed as part of the newly opened 13.3-mile North Tarrant Express corridor.

“This bridge, although not a part of the original corridor design, is a vital north-south connector that will give drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists direct access from one side of the highway to the other,” said Fort Worth City Councilman Danny Scarth in a news release.

“With the growth in businesses and residences on both sides of the North Tarrant Express, connectivity is paramount,” Scarth said.

Determining a workable solution required the participation of several project partners. “The Riverside bridge represents a true collaboration: working with the city of Fort Worth and [the Texas Department of Transportation], we were able to implement a major design improvement that will greatly enhance access for drivers,” says Belen Marcos, CEO of NTE Mobility Partners, project developer.
