Athlon Energy Inc. of Fort Worth announced Monday it has filed a draft registration statement for a possible initial public offering. The number of shares to be offered and the price range for the offering have not yet been determined, according to the company’s filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Athlon plans to use the proceeds from the initial public offering for its subsidiary, Athlon Holdings LP. Athlon Holdings expects to use the proceeds to “reduce outstanding borrowings under its credit agreement, to provide additional liquidity for use in its drilling program and for general corporate purposes, including potential acquisitions,” according to a company news release.
