Athlon announces $345M IPO

Athlon Energy Inc., a Fort Worth-based company that buys and develops oil and natural gas reserves in the Permian Basin, has made a regulatory filing to raise up to $345 million in an initial public offering of its common stock. Athlon is backed by Apollo Global Management LLC and Citigroup is underwriting the IPO, according to the filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The company was founded in 2010 by former employees of Encore Acquisition Co. after that firm was acquired by Denbury Resources Inc. in 2009. Robert C. Reeves is the president and CEO of Athlon.
