Four Day Weekend moving to Stage West Theatre

Four Day Weekend is leaving its longtime home at 312 Houston St. in Fort Worth’s Sundance Square

Four Day Weekend has found a new home in Fort Worth’s Near Southside neighborhood: the Stage West Theatre at 821 W. Vickery Blvd. The improvisational comedy troupe’s debut at Stage West is set for Saturday, Aug 3.

Tickets for the show can be purchased on Four Day Weekend’s website.

Four Day Weekend revealed last month that it was leaving the Houston Street theater it has occupied since 1997 because Sundance Square management declined to renew the show’s lease. The lease runs though the end of July.

“We are thrilled to keep the Southwest’s longest running show in Fort Worth by establishing a residency at Stage West Theatre,” said David Wilk, a founding member of Four Day Weekend. “This is a great collaboration between two well-known brands in the Fort Worth community and ensures our performances continue uninterrupted for our fans.”

“Stage West is just five minutes from Sundance Square and is an intimate venue in Fort Worth’s creative neighborhood of Near Southside,” Wilk added. “It feels a lot like Christmas and getting a shiny new toy! We can hardly wait to move into the theatre to make people laugh, while making new friends and seeing old acquaintances.”

Fans can expect the same brand of interactive shows featuring improv comedy, video sketches and live music that have made Four Day Weekend a staple on the Fort Worth entertainment scene, the show said in a news release.

“When we learned Four Day Weekend was losing its downtown space, the only response was “come over here,” said Dana Schultes, executive producer for Stage West. “Simply put, a thriving arts scene makes Fort Worth better. Plus, we have multiple performance spaces. Finally, the Near Southside Arts district is a perfect landing spot. It was a no-brainer on our part to extend a helping hand to a fellow Fort Worth arts institution.”

Four Day Weekend has performed for two U.S. presidents and has received numerous accolades, including the Small Business of the Year award from the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce and the Key to the City from former Fort Worth Mayor Mike Moncrief for being “Fort Worth’s Greatest Ambassador.” The troupe has a second location at 5601 Sears St. in Dallas, just off Greenville Avenue.
