Creativity Shines Bright as Top Designers Take the Stage

Goodwill North Central Texas’ Project Goodwill All Stars dazzled guests on Thursday, April 17 at the Worthington Renaissance Hotel, as 14 returning champions and fan-favorite designers went head-to-head in a thrilling fashion competition for a cause.

Hosted by Project Runway All Stars winner and HGTV’s Rock the Block champion Anthony Elle, the sold-out event showcased jaw-dropping garments crafted entirely from repurposed materials found at local Goodwill stores. More than just fashion, the event raised more than $65,000 in crucial funds to support Goodwill’s mission to provide education, job training and employment opportunities for individuals with barriers to employment.

This year’s winners impressed both judges and guests with their originality, craftsmanship, and storytelling through fashion. Taking home 1st place, TY Washington delivered a bold, futuristic ensemble that stunned the crowd. Her look featured a strapless vinyl jumpsuit paired with a clear caption hat adorned in sparkling accents and a dramatic bomber jacket. Her design was brought to life using unconventional materials sourced from Goodwill, including 20 plastic shopping bags, clear plastic cutting boards, and vinyl shower curtains.

2nd place was awarded to Kate Oxley, who wowed the audience with a deeply personal piece representing the timeline of transformation through womanhood. Her design transitioned through stages of life using materials like diapers, a graduation robe, makeup wipes, maxi pads, adult diapers, and more—each element symbolizing a different chapter in a woman’s journey.

3rd place went to Blair Reyes for her ethereal design inspired by Greco-Roman sculpture and the intricate beauty of woven structures. Her garment combined artistic texture and movement through the use of plaster, placemats, cookie cutters, textured wallpaper, wall hangings and other found items.

The coveted People’s Choice Award went to Emily Mitchell, whose creation celebrated the theme of transformation—a nod to the incredible journeys made possible through Goodwill’s programs. Her design utilized umbrella covers, drapes, CDs, audiobook discs and hot glue sticks to craft a powerful visual story of resilience and change.

“Project Goodwill All Stars was more than a night of fashion—it was a celebration of second chances,” said Shay Gipson, Vice President of Community Engagement for Goodwill North Central Texas. “The creativity on the runway is only matched by the life-changing impact this event helps make possible.”
