$400,000 commitment benefits food assistance programs that serve communities
NRG Energy, Inc. (NYSE: NRG), together with its brands Reliant and Vivint, today announced a more than $400,000 commitment to food banks and hunger relief organizations through its Meals for Millions initiative. This effort, along with hundreds of employee volunteer hours, comes at a critical time for millions of families. Through PositiveNRG, the company’s charitable giving program, NRG is partnering with local and regional organizations to strengthen food assistance programs. These efforts reflect NRG’s ongoing commitment to bringing essential resources to communities.
“As we head into the holiday season, comfort and connection should be within reach for everyone,” said Melissa Hensley, Senior Director, Corporate Philanthropy. “With Meals for Millions, we’re proud to stand with our community partners in helping our neighbors.” This effort will support food banks and foundations in Texas, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Illinois, and Ohio.
As food insecurity continues to impact families across DFW, Reliant is stepping up with a $10,000 donation to the Tarrant Area Food Bank to help meet the growing need. Reliant is also making a $10,000 donation to the North Texas Food Bank. This local support is part of the national Meals for Millions initiative led by Reliant’s parent company, NRG, which is giving $170,000 across Texas
Reliant has contributed regular financial support for the Tarrant Area Food Bank since 2021 and more than a dozen employee volunteers during the annual company-sponsored PositiveNRG Impact Week.
