Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County (WSTC) has appointed Jauneen Maldonado to serve as Interim Deputy Executive Director, effective March 2, 2026. She will serve in this role while WSTC conducts a comprehensive search for a permanent successor. Ms. Maldonado has served Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County as the Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) Director for 10 years and is a 26-year veteran of AEL programs. She has directly overseen a high-performing consortium of education and community partners that provide education and training services to those with the greatest need in Tarrant County. Ms. Maldonado was the principal designer and has led the implementation of the very successful Adult Vocational Academies. This program seamlessly combines a variety of federal funding sources to provide vocational training in high-demand occupations supported by industry customized educational instruction and wrap around services to ensure the success of students on their career journey.
Over the past four years, Ms. Maldonado has served as presiding officer for the Texas Workforce Commission – AEL State Advisory Committee, recommending statewide policy and program enhancements. As a graduate of the Texas State Leadership Academy, she regularly participates in panel discussions for incoming future leaders. “Jauneen has consistently demonstrated the vision, operational expertise and commitment to outcomes that define strong workforce leadership. Her experience overseeing high preforming programs and strengthening career pathways makes her exceptionally well positioned to lead this work and continue expanding opportunities for the individuals and families we serve,” said Robert Sturns, Executive Director, Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County.
The appointment follows the announcement that Jill Navarrete will retire on May 1, 2026, after 29 years of service to Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County. During the transition period Jill will work with Jauneen to provide training and ensure a smooth transfer of responsibilities. Throughout this transition, Jauneen will also continue fulfilling her duties within the AEL department.
