Fort Worth Public Library shatters records in Fiscal Year 2025; Annual Report highlights historic 4.3 million checkouts

The Fort Worth Public Library has released its Fiscal Year 2025 Annual Report, documenting a year of unprecedented growth and record-breaking community engagement. Residents are invited to explore the full report online to see how their library continues to serve as a vital hub for learning and connection.
“The Fort Worth Public Library continues to deliver to residents in this city of learners,” said Library Director Midori Clark. “This report highlights our major accomplishments and the incredible impact our team has on the community every day.”
Reaching a historic milestone, the Library recorded more than 4.3 million checkouts in FY2025, the highest in the institution’s history. This growth was driven by a 10 percent year-over-year increase in digital checkouts, which peaked at 2 million. While physical items still represent most checkouts, the gap is narrowing as more customers use the Libby app for audiobooks and e-books.
Fiscal Year 2025 Highlights Include:

  • Surging Attendance: More than 1.2 million people visited the Library’s 20 locations, marking the highest visitation levels since the pandemic.
  • Programmatic Success: Nearly 11,000 programs were offered, drawing a record-breaking 130,000+ attendees.
  • Early Literacy Impact: Over 58,000 visitors attended 2,363 story time sessions, providing essential building blocks for pre-reading and early literacy skills.

The report also details the Library’s efficient stewardship of its $27.4 million budget. A significant portion of these resources was dedicated to expanding the collection and providing innovative services such as free patron printing, which is now available at 19 locations. Looking ahead to 2026, the Library plans to open the new Sendera Springs Library in Council District 10 and expand partnerships citywide with major cultural institutions like the Fort Worth Botanic Garden and the Fort Worth Opera.
