900 Children, 10 Zip Codes, One Constant: CASA of Tarrant County Releases High-Priority Areas for April Advocacy Top 10 Zip Codes Needing Urgent Volunteer Support during April’s Child Abuse Prevention Month

Behind the front doors of nearly 900 Tarrant County homes this year, a child’s world will be turned upside down by abuse or neglect. As these children are thrust into a chaotic maze of unfamiliar courtrooms, new schools, and rotating foster homes, a staggering 400 of them are currently facing this trauma without a single consistent adult by their side. This April, for Child Abuse Prevention Month, and May, for National Foster Care Month, CASA of Tarrant County is sounding an urgent alarm to close this gap by identifying the specific neighborhood zip codes where the need for a stable, life-changing advocate has reached a critical breaking point.

The Geography of the Crisis: Top 10 Zip Codes
Data from 2025 identifies 10 specific ZIP codes with the highest number of cases of children requiring advocacy. These areas with the highest number of cases include Fort Worth, Arlington, Forest Hill, Edgecliff Village, White Settlement, and Benbrook areas, but there is a need throughout all of Tarrant County. CASA is calling on the Tarrant County community within these “high-priority” zones to step forward and provide the stability these children desperately need:

Addressing Profound Instability
Children in these areas often face a “new normal” defined by uncertainty and frequent changes in their homes, schools, and the adults responsible for their care. A CASA volunteer serves as the one constant adult presence, focusing on a single child to ensure their voice is heard in court.

The impact of having a dedicated advocate is significant: children with a CASA are less likely to re-enter the foster care system once they find a permanent home.

Become a CASA Volunteer Unfortunately, there are so many more abused and neglected children in Tarrant County that still need assistance, but many more CASA volunteers are needed to make this happen. This April, consider stepping up to make a difference by becoming a CASA volunteer. Training and support are provided to all volunteers. To learn more about these events, the services provided by CASA, or volunteering for CASA (as a court-appointed special advocate), visit SpeakUpForAChild.org.

Currently CASA of Tarrant County has more than 400 active volunteers, but approximately 500 children each year still wait for a CASA volunteer.
