Andrew Hairston to Speak at Women’s Policy Forum on Education Justice and School District Takeovers

The Women’s Policy Forum will host Andrew Hairston, Director of the Education Justice Project at Texas Appleseed, as the featured speaker on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. The event will take place at Ridgelea Country Club.

For more than two decades, Texas Appleseed has led impactful efforts to advance equity and opportunity for public school students across Texas. As Director of the Education Justice Project, Mr. Hairston works to ensure that all students are supported in school environments that recognize their full humanity and enable them to reach their full potential.

During the forum, Mr. Hairston will present findings from ongoing investigations into state takeovers of school districts across Texas, including developments in Fort Worth. He will provide insight into the implications of these interventions and outline strategies to prevent future takeovers through sustained collaboration with community organizations and stakeholders.
