The Tarrant Appraisal District (TAD) has officially certified the 2026 appraisal roll, marking one of the earliest certifications in the district’s history and a major milestone following the successful implementation of its new True Prodigy appraisal system.
Certification was completed ahead of the district’s original schedule, allowing TAD to provide certified values to taxing entities earlier than anticipated and keeping local governments on track for the Truth-in-Taxation (TNT) process.
The achievement comes during TAD’s first appraisal cycle on the True Prodigy platform, making the early certification especially significant. As the largest appraisal district to transition to the True Prodigy system, TAD successfully completed the implementation while maintaining service to taxpayers throughout one of the busiest periods of the year.
“This milestone reflects the tremendous dedication and professionalism of our staff,” said Chief Appraiser and Executive Director Joe Don Bobbitt. “Transitioning to a new appraisal system while managing a record protest season was a significant undertaking, but our employees remained focused on serving Tarrant County taxpayers. Their hard work made this success possible.”
Despite the challenges of implementing a new system, TAD experienced one of its busiest protest seasons on record:
- 307,901 protests filed, a 13% increase over 2025.
- 99% of protests were resolved by staff, reducing the need for formal Appraisal Review Board hearings.
- More than 12,700 taxpayer calls were answered during the final day of the protest filing period.
- The average phone wait time on the busiest day was approximately 120 seconds, while taxpayers visiting in person experienced an average wait time of 17 minutes.
These service metrics demonstrate TAD’s continued commitment to providing timely, responsive customer service even during periods of record demand.

The successful certification also positions taxing entities to move forward with budget planning and Truth-in-Taxation requirements on schedule.
The district credits the accomplishment to months of planning, extensive employee training, collaboration with True Prodigy, and the dedication of staff across every department.
