Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth earned its third American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet® designation. Care team members and hospital leadership received the celebratory news during a recent phone call from the prestigious nursing organization. Earlier this year, Texas Health Southwest successfully completed a Magnet site survey and earned 11 exemplars, which are areas or programs that demonstrate high-quality nursing outcomes. “I can tell you 11 exemplars is pretty much unheard-of,” Lori Donovan, M.S.N., R.N., CNOR, NEA-BC, chief nursing officer, told the crowd gathered for the call. “This is phenomenal.”
Magnet is an international program that recognizes organizations focused on achieving excellence in nursing practice, high-quality patient care, along with attracting and retaining registered nurses. There are more than 670 Magnet organizations worldwide, including 69 in Texas. “Magnet redesignation with 11 exemplars reflects the unwavering commitment of our nurses and interdisciplinary teams at Texas Health Southwest to excellence, collaboration and compassionate care,” said Ajith Pai, Pharm.D., FACHE, hospital president.
