Marketing and communications firm Ascend Marketing LLC of Grapevine has acquired Yellowfin Design + Strategy, a design and branding company in Austin. Financial details of the all-stock merger, which closed on July 17, were not disclosed.
The Austin office is located on East Sixth Street and is operating as Ascend Marketing under the direction of former Yellowfin owner and president, Tina Schweiger. She also becomes a stockholder in Ascend Marketing and a member of the corporation’s board of managers.
As a result of the acquisition, Ascend has immediately doubled staffing in Austin. Schweiger said in a news release she expects to triple the size of her in-house staff to 12 digital design and production specialists by the end of 2015. Schweiger also projects billing totals will expand by 50 percent, from $350,000 to $500,000 in 2014 and to exceed $1 million in 2015. “Acquiring Yellowfin gives Ascend greater digital design capabilities, greater depth in our digital strategy and branding services and a strong foothold in the Austin market,” said Rich Herbst, Ascend managing partner.
