DHG Insurance, the national industry practice of Charlotte, North Carolina-based Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP, has expanded its audit, tax and advisory services nationally with the establishment of DHG Insurance in DHG’s Fort Worth office. This Texas-based incubation of DHG Insurance will provide Southwest area insurance companies with the enhanced breadth and depth of the practice’s entire insurance team, according to a news release.
Matt Howell, who has more than 10 years of insurance industry experience, is relocating from North Carolina to Texas to lead the DHG Insurance team.
“We are excited to bring our deep insurance industry experience to the DFW region,” said Matt Church, managing partner for DHG Insurance. “Matt has contributed to our success during his tenure with the firm and he brings valuable leadership to the DFW office with a high-touch, solutions-oriented approach in how he serves clients.”
The expansion of DHG Insurance into the Fort Worth market continues DHG’s local growth plan of focusing on the firm’s four national industry practices. DHG Insurance represents the third national industry served by the firm’s Forth Worth office, which began with a foundation in serving the automotive industry, then expanded into health care in 2016.

During his 10-year career at DHG, Howell has provided audit and advisory services to insurers in the property and casualty, life and health and warranty markets. He has extensive experience as an insurance specialist on numerous engagements including statutory and GAAP financial reporting, technical accounting and regulatory matters affecting insurers, risk-based audits, and internal control related engagements. Matt is active in the marketplace and his technical knowledge has made him a sought-after adviser by insurers who are in periods of change and transition.
Howell received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from High Point University and a Master of Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
