EMC shareholders approve $67 billion merger with Dell

EMC Corp. announced July 19 that its shareholders have approved the merger agreement with Round Rock-based Dell Inc.

The $67 billion deal will bring together two of the largest tech hardware companies in the world, EMC with storage products and Dell with PCs, servers and other products for both consumers and business markets. .

Chief Executive Officer and founder Michael Dell agreed in October to buy EMC Corp. for $67 billion to broaden the company’s product lineup from servers to storage devices amid intensifying competition. Dell said it expects to add about $50 billion in debt to get the EMC deal done.
