First Western Title, previously an affiliate of Colonial Savings in Fort Worth, is now fully owned and operated as an independent title company by First Western Title Acquisition LLC. Colonial sold its title affiliate in response to Dodd-Frank legislation, which impacts the relationship between mortgage lenders and affiliated service providers such as title companies. Founded in 2006 and headquartered in Fort Worth, First Western Title will continue to provide comprehensive commercial and residential title services throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth market, with plans to expand from its existing five branch offices. The company said in a news release it will continue to provide title services throughout the country from its national company, First Western Title of America, headquartered in Sarasota, Fla. President Glen Cochran said the company will continue to support Colonial’s retail and credit union mortgage divisions as it has in the past, along with other residential mortgage originators across the U.S. “The transition to an independently owned title firm has been very successful,” said Cochran. “We have had no interruptions in our service to the many residential and commercial clients we serve, and we look forward to expanding our operations in coming days to deliver professional and accurate title solutions to even more markets.” Principals in First Western Title Acquisition LLC dba First Western Title include Kent Davis, chairman; Donna Cochran, executive vice president; Sandra Houghton, senior vice president; and Chris Drumm, vice president. -Betty Dillard bdillard@bizpress.net
