Fort Worth-based private equity firm closes second energy fund, at $500M

Vortus Investments, a Fort Worth-based independent energy private equity firm making investments in U.S. onshore upstream oil & gas assets, has closed its oversubscribed second fund at $500 million. Vortus Investments II’s limited partners include university endowments, nonprofit foundations, family offices and pension funds.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to capitalize on the current environment and continue partnering with owner/operators in the development of domestic upstream oil & gas assets,” Jeffrey Miller and Brian Crumley, the co-founding partners of Vortus Investments, said in a joint statement.

FirstPoint Equity was the placement agent while Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP provided legal counsel.
