Higginbotham acquires portion of Willis agency

Higginbotham, a Fort Worth-based independent insurance broker and financial services firm, has purchased a portion of Willis of Texas Inc.’s operations. The transaction includes Willis of Texas’s operations in San Antonio, McAllen, Victoria and Tyler. Combined, they add 35 employees and one new geographic market to Higginbotham’s Texas footprint. “The groups in San Antonio, Victoria and Tyler will fortify our existing offices in those cities, and McAllen brings a new opportunity to expand local service to clients in the southern tip of Texas,” said Higginbotham President and Chief Operating Officer Rusty Reid. The San Antonio and McAllen offices will continue being led by managing directors Drew Apperson and Ben Smith, respectively. The Victoria and Tyler groups will merge with Higginbotham’s residing offices. Higginbotham is the 32nd largest independent insurance broker by revenue in the U.S., with 22 offices across the state and a workforce approaching 650.
