Newsmakers: Comerica names new senior vp

BANKING & FINANCE

Comerica Inc. has named Corey Bailey senior vice president, chief credit officer and divisional credit administration officer for the Texas market. Bailey will support Middle Market Texas, Energy and U.S. Banking.

FOOD SERVICE

Fuzzy’s Taco Shop has named industry veteran David Catalano – as chief operating officer. Most recently, Catalano was COO at Logan’s Roadhouse. He has also held senior leadership positions at Hard Rock Cafe and TGI Friday’s and was the first franchisee of Twin Peaks.

GOVERNMENT

Douglas Wiersig, director of the City of Fort Worth’s Transportation & Public Works Department since 2011, will retire at the end of October.

An interim director will be named and a nationwide search for a replacement will be conducted.

Wiersig holds three degrees in civil engineering: a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nevada at Reno, a master’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a doctorate from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

In more than 30 years in public works, Wiersig held executive positions with the City of Houston, the City of Dallas and Cobb County, Georgia. He taught civil engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington and was manager of infrastructure programs at Jacobs Engineering for seven years.

HEALTH CARE

Reinvent Biologics announced the appointment of Dr. David Drez Jr. as chief medical officer.

With a career spanning more than 42 years, Drez is a leading expert in orthopedics and sports medicine. He was the 2017 recipient of the Jack Weakley Award of Distinction from the National Athletic Trainers Association for a lifetime of contributions directly affecting health care in the area of athletics, athletic training, or sports medicine.

Drez was a team physician at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana, for 37 years and was inducted into the university’s Hall of Fame. The rehabilitation area of the university’s Sports Medicine Center was named in his honor.

RETAIL

Katherine M. A. (“Allie”) Kline has been appointed to the board of directors at Pier 1 Imports Inc.. Kline will also serve on the board’s Compensation Committee. Kline most recently was chief marketing and communications officer for Oath Inc., a subsidiary of Verizon Communications Inc. consisting of more than 20 distinctive digital brands that reach about 1 billion consumers globally, including AOL, HuffPost, TechCrunch, Tumblr and Yahoo.
