Cooksey Communications received four Platinum and two Gold honors in the 2017 MarCom Awards, an international creative competition. The Platinum honors were for: Strategic Plan Design-DFW International Airport Strategic Plan 2016-2020; Television Placement-Exclusive Tour: Modern Meets Creative at Frisco Station; Magazine Placement-City of Enid’s Approach to Protect Future Water Supply; and Special Event-Dallas High School Media Hard Hat Tour. The two Gold honors were for Logo-Drive Like Your Family Lives Here and Print Advertising-Magazine Beach Ad for EltaMD. MarCom is administered by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals.
BANKING & FINANCE
Three professionals have joined the consulting practice at JTaylor. They are Anna Liebelt, a senior analyst; Julie Firebaugh, an associate; and Jonathan Leer, a manager.
Liebelt received a bachelor’s degree in finance and marketing from Texas Christian University. She previously worked for Gemini Rosemont Commercial Real Estate, specializing as an asset management analyst.
Firebaugh received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s in accountancy from TCU. She is a certified public accountant and previously worked for Ernst & Young LLP, where she was an assurance senior.
Leer holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from TCU and master’s degrees in accounting and health care administration from the University of Texas at Arlington. He previously was the business services manager, business analytics and ventures, at Children’s Health Systems of Texas in Dallas.

Benson Varghese, founder and managing partner of Varghese Summersett PLLC, has been elected vice president of the Tarrant County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. He was among 11 criminal defense attorneys named to the association’s executive board for 2018.
NONPROFITS
The board of trustees of Texans Can Academies has elected Anna M. Torres as a new member of the board. Torres founded Anna M. Torres & Associates PC in 2008. She has extensive experience serving as a third-party guardian in complex and contested guardianship cases and representing clients in all types of probate and trust conflicts.
