FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Consumers holding gift cards from former electronics retailer RadioShack can file claims seeking to recover the unused balance.
The claims process, announced Wednesday, is part of a settlement approved by a bankruptcy judge.
Fort Worth-based RadioShack in February filed for Chapter 11 reorganization, after not turning a profit since 2011. Hedge fund Standard General in March bought hundreds of RadioShack store leases through its General Wireless affiliate.
The settlement says consumers have a year to file gift card claims, until Dec. 2, 2016, to determine if they are eligible for money.
The website is OldRadioShackGiftCards.com. Priority will be given to gift cards purchased from a RadioShack store.
