Texas has retained its position as the nation’s best state for business, according to “Chief Executive” magazine.

Rounding out the top five states in the magazine’s 2015 Best States for Business are Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia.

Occupying the bottom of the list are California, New York, Illinois, New Jersey and Massachusetts.

Participating in the latest survey were 511 CEOs. States were reviewed in three categories: taxes and regulations, quality of the workforce, and living environment. Criteria considered in the evaluation were education, cost of living, affordable housing, social amenities and crime rates.
