Vista Bank Wins Statewide Best of Community Banking Award

Independent Bankers Association of Texas recognizes local bank’s financial literacy program

The Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT)—the largest state community banking association in the nation—recently honored Vista Bank in Dallas with a Best of Community Banking (BOCB) Award. It received a Gold Eagle Award for its “Vista Bank’s Path to Yes Program and Financial Literacy Center” entry.

Vista Bank’s Path to Yes program, offered through the South Dallas Financial Literacy Center, equips underserved entrepreneurs with the knowledge, tools, and mentorship to grow their businesses and access capital. The six-week course features four tailored tracks—ranging from startups to established businesses—and blends financial education with hands-on guidance from Vista Bank staff and Darlisa Diltz of the South Dallas Fair Park Innovation Center. Participants graduate with practical skills in budgeting, credit, and capital readiness, along with a supportive peer network.

In the first cohort, 70% of participants were minority- or women-owned businesses, several of which went on to secure funding or increase revenue. Beyond the program, Vista Bank also hosts monthly financial literacy classes that have reached more than 200 individuals. With new cohorts beginning in August 2025, Path to Yes continues to expand opportunity through personalized support, strong community partnerships, and a commitment to inclusive banking.
