13th person dies from injuries from Texas tornado outbreak

ROWLETT, Texas (AP) — A 13th person has died from injuries from a North Texas tornado outbreak late last month.

According to Rowlett Mayor Todd Gottel and the Dallas County medical examiner’s office, 73-year-old Trevor “Neil” Heslop died Jan. 13. He’s the first victim from the Dallas suburb of Rowlett to have died in the Dec. 26 outbreak.

Nearly 450 buildings were damaged and destroyed in Rowlett. Heslop’s home had collapsed.

Nine motorists and passengers were killed in Garland when a twister hit a roadway. Three people died in Collin County, north of Dallas.
