16th annual Texas Frontier Forts Muster

The 16th annual Texas Frontier Forts Muster, held at the Historic Stockyards in Fort Worth, Texas, will take place on Friday and Saturday, May 12-13, 2017. During this free, two-day heritage event, the Stockyards National Historic District is transformed into an authentic representation of Texas frontier life.

The Texas Forts Muster Celebration celebrates the heritage of Texas’s Frontier fort settlements, like Fort Worth, concentrating on the years from the early Republic in 1836 to the closing of the frontier and settlement of the late 1800s. Exchange Avenue will be lined with approximately 10 forts and related programs will participate in the event. Designed to highlight frontier-era life, Frontier Forts Muster brings together authentic wagons, flags, music, colorful uniforms and military gear from Texas landmarks.Infantry, artillery and cavalry demonstrations, military marches, Indian dancers, and more will fill the event schedule on Friday and Saturday.

Part of the celebration this year includes the unveiling of 150th Chisholm Trail Anniversary Historical Marker in front of the Cowtown Coliseum following the 11:30 am cattle drive, as well as the 150th Chisholm Trail Anniversary parade at 4 pm on Saturday, May 13th.
