A Good Man’s Education and Art Tooth Launch Inaugural “A Good Gathering” in Fort Worth’s Near Southside This October

Hosted in the Near Southside, the October series unites 29 artists, entrepreneurs, and cultural leaders to explore how art and culture can build stronger communities

FORT WORTH, TX  A Good Man’s Education, a Fort Worth-based organization focused on education, entrepreneurship, and community building, in partnership with Art Tooth, an artist-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to showcasing leading and emerging artists, today announced the launch of the inaugural “A Good Gathering.” The month-long art exhibition and event series will take place October 1–31 in Fort Worth’s Near Southside, bringing together 29 artists and a full calendar of cultural programming, workshops, and community events designed to celebrate the city’s creative spirit and showcase how art and culture can connect, heal, and inspire.

“A Good Gathering” is a dynamic experience structured around four distinct pathways, each offering a unique way for the public to connect and participate. The Art Pathway highlights creative expressions that celebrate the joy of gathering. The Entrepreneur Pathway connects attendees with innovators shaping community engagement. The Cultural Pathway, presented with the Fort Worth Film Club, offers a curated selection of films. And the Community Pathway brings together all the elements through hands-on activities designed for all ages.

“Each pathway highlights a key pillar of what makes a great community,” said Dev’n Goodman, founder of A Good Man’s Education and A Good Gathering“Entrepreneurs bring us together through shared interests, culture allows us to be seen in ways we never expected, and art speaks to us at our core as we work to create a community that welcomes everyone.”

The four-week series will be anchored at The Pool Gallery, operated by Near Southside, LLC — a space that has long served as a community hub for art and connection. Organizers describe it as a “third space,” a concept coined by sociologist Ray Oldenburg, where people step outside of home and work to engage with one another. Similar to national initiatives like Project for Public SpacesA Good Gathering aims to empower community members through art, culture, and collaboration with entrepreneurs and cultural changemakers across North Texas.

The exhibition will feature 29 artists, bringing together both established and emerging talent. Their work reflects diverse perspectives and lived experiences, exploring the many ways people find connection and community through art.

Featured Artists include: Anna Joy Pham, Kojak, Brian Dickson Jr., Charles Gray, Cindy Tovar, Donnie Williams, Kelsha Reese, Niki Dionne, So Osko, Tatyana Alanis, and Jay Wilkinson. Artists selected from the open call include: Andria Matlock, Araina Leatherock, Ariel Davis, Chloe Renee, Christopher Bermejo, Cole Gunter, Greg Davis, HagRoot, j.p. eggleston, Joshua Steven Bryant, Juan “Johnny” Govea, Karen Shields, Lauren Rushing, Martha Peters, Sparkle Loom (Marie DeNoon, Kamyon Conner, Charlie Hughes, and Rachel Hudson), Susan Brents-Sheldon, Whitney J, and Will DeShazo.

“I’m excited to be part of this show, as it marks the first official collaboration between A Good Man’s Education and Art Tooth,” said Shasta Haubrich, Executive Director of Art Tooth. “Together, we’re building on years of working individually with the creative community. Bringing together more than two dozen artists—including many we’ve each admired and collaborated with—is a powerful way to celebrate Fort Worth and its art scene.”

The series kicks off with a highly anticipated opening weekend. On Wednesday, October 1, an exclusive Private Preview for press and art collectors will offer an in-depth look at the curated gallery and the chance to connect directly with the artists. Two nights later, on Friday, October 3, the doors open wide for the official Opening Reception, a community celebration filled with flavorful food and drinks, inspiring remarks, live music, and opportunities to meet the artists and explore their work up close.

Throughout October, the space will host a wide range of programming. Local wellness leaders including Bumblebee YogaBody Jam Studios, and InLight Massage Therapy will lead movement and mindfulness sessions designed to celebrate expression and peace. Art educator Natalia Margarite of Creative Muse Arting will host hands-on workshops, guiding participants to create their own works. A slate of film screenings curated by Dr. Marcellis Perkins will bring cultural depth, including a panel discussion on All Dirt Roads Taste of Salt with Black Girls in Art Spaces founder Kaci Merriwether-Hawkins and professor and author Dr. Stacie McCormick.

At its heart, “A Good Gathering” reflects the belief that art is a powerful force for connection, personal growth, and social change. By showcasing the unique perspectives of Fort Worth’s creative community, the exhibition reinforces that art is for everyone and that creative expression is vital to building a stronger, more connected city.
