Annual sales tax holiday this weekend across Texas

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — The weekend sales tax holiday is here.

The annual Texas sales tax holiday begins Friday, with tax breaks on certain items through Sunday as families prepare to send children back to school.

The Texas sales tax holiday has been an annual event since 1999.

Texas Comptroller Susan Combs has said the law exempts most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced under $100 from sales and use taxes. Experts say that could save about $8 on every $100 spent, with some exceptions.
