Arlington Chamber names Small Businesses of Year

The Arlington Chamber of Commerce has named Bob Moore Construction Inc. and Girls Inc. of Tarrant County as recipients of the 2013 Small Businesses of the Year Awards. The awards will be presented at the “Spirit of America: 2013 Salute to Small Business” luncheon on May 23 at 11 a.m. at the Sheraton Arlington Hotel. The event is hosted by the Arlington Chamber and The North Texas Small Business Development Center. The top businesses were selected for their achievements, innovativeness, response to adversity and contributions to aid community-oriented projects. Bob Moore Construction is winner in the for-profit category and Girls Inc. won in the nonprofit category. Wes Jurey, president and CEO of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, said for 67 years, Bob Moore Construction has had historical impact in industrial, commercial office and retail projects such as Rooms To Go, Garden Ridge, Pioneer 360 Business Park, Harley Davidson and Lincoln Properties. “They have also provided significant support on major community initiatives,” Jurey said. The Girls Inc. selection is a tribute to the organization’s successful outreach in serving more than 7,000 youth annually focusing on self-esteem, peer pressure and other issues girls 6-18 years old face daily. Both public and private small businesses representing 72 counties from North Texas will be honored at the event. The ceremony will be emceed by NBC 5 Today Anchor, Deborah Ferguson, and feature an address by Jeff Williams, president of Graham & Associates and the 2012 Small Business of the Year recipient. During the luncheon, The North Texas Small Business Development Center will recognize the Small Business Person of the Year, Owner of the Year, Women in Business Champion of the Year, Veteran’s Business of the Year, Minority Small Business of the Year, and others. Winners are from Dallas, Fort Worth, Wichita Falls, Denton, Marshall and Rowlett.
