Authorities say Texan drowns on Oklahoma side of Red River

COLBERT, Okla. (AP) — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports a Texas man has drowned on the Oklahoma side of the Red River that separates the two states.

The OHP says 28-ear-old Louis Jackson of Denison was found in the river Sunday afternoon and his body recovered from about seven feet of water by the Colbert Fire Department.

An OHP report says Jackson had been fishing with a family member at the Denison Dam on Saturday when he went to sleep in a vehicle, but had disappeared when the family member returned to the vehicle.

The report says Jackson was not wearing a flotation device.
