Fort Worth Academy: Teachers and Students Honored for 20 Years of Service to Meals on Wheels

🕐 1 min read

Fort Worth Academy is being honored for its 20 years of service to Meals on Wheels in Fort Worth.

Unique to Fort Worth Academy, the middle school children, ages 10-14, are the ones who offer the service to homebound residents in Tarrant County. The sponsor, Associate Head of School, Sharon Rice (25 years at Fort Worth Academy) schedules the visits and transports the children to the neighborhood location. Originally, the Academy sponsor and children would visit homes. Since 2002, Fort Worth Academy has been serving Evergreen at Hulen Bend, a senior living community.

A quick estimate allows that over the 20 years, Fort Worth Academy has made over 700 visits to homebound residents and and clocked over 2,000 service hours.
