Fort Worth Chamber names executive VP, CFO

The Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce announced Feb. 6 that Patti Steelman – vice president and controller for the Chamber for almost 18 years – has been promoted to executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Steelman holds a BBA in accounting from Texas Christian University and is a licensed CPA in Texas. She was previously employed at Sentinel Trust Co., Coopers & Lybrand and Arthur Anderson & Co.

“Patti’s accounting and human resources expertise has been instrumental as the Fort Worth Chamber reorganized personnel and moved our fiscal year in order to better execute Fortify, our four-year strategic plan,” Bill Thornton, president and CEO, said in the announcement.

“Her resourceful solutions to managing major organizational and budget changes with straightforward financial reporting have made her one of the most respected financial professionals in Fort Worth,” he said.

In her previous role at the chamber, Steelman supervised the organization’s financial, human resources, administrative and technology areas.

Steelman also oversees several other entities including the Fort Worth Chamber Foundation, which has provided financial support for numerous community initiatives. Those initiatives include the USS Fort Worth, Z Boaz Dog Park, Children’s Botanic Garden and Heritage Trails. She also oversees several specific-purpose political action committees created by the business community to support ballot measures.

As a volunteer, she has served on multiple PTA and Booster Club boards, taught religious education classes at her church, serves on her church finance committee and has taught Junior Achievement in several Tarrant County schools.
