Ashley Clement has been named the deputy fire director for the City of Fort Worth’s Fire Department. She will be the first deputy director in the department’s history.
As deputy director, Clement plans to leverage her extensive budgeting and financial expertise to support both fire services and the integration of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) that is transitioning to FWFD. Her focus will be on meeting the community’s needs while balancing fiscal responsibility and long-term sustainability.
She began her career in 2008 in private healthcare administration, transitioning to nonprofit work in 2011 to continue serving communities through healthcare and the public school system. In healthcare, she drew heavily on statistical analysis and performance measurements to optimize daily operations, ranging from staffing and patient billing to cash management and sector performance. She regularly provided CEOs and executive teams with real-time Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports to guide strategic decision making and played a key role in developing streamlined operational enhancements.
During her time supporting public schools, Clement co-managed debt service to ensure responsible funding for educational infrastructure and coordinated the management of grant and activity funds across multiple campuses. Over the years, she has developed capital plans and strategies for long-term sustainability and supported cross-functional teams.
She joined the City of Fort Worth in 2014 as a senior accountant, initially accepting a temporary position that evolved into a long-term commitment. Clement went on to fill multiple finance and budget capacities with the City, often stepping in during times of high turnover, including senior analyst, financial reporting manager, and assistant finance director. In this latter role, she was heavily involved in launching the Fort Worth Lab, showcasing her dedication to innovation, strategy and operational excellence.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting with a minor in psychology, reflecting her fascination with both data-driven analytics and human behavior.
Outside of work, Clement is an avid fitness enthusiast and is also the proud mother of a teen daughter who excels at tennis and plays the flute. She has also taken an interest in pickleball – despite lacking coordination – and lightheartedly invites anyone equally unskilled to join her on the court.
Whether on the job or at home, she believes in the power of teamwork — no one can succeed alone — and remains passionate about serving her community while maintaining a watchful eye on financial sustainability.
