Fort Worth makes list of ‘underappreciated’ cities

Fort Worth basks in the moonlight

Feeling neglected Fort Worth? Don’t worry, Thrillist, a web media group that loves lists, has put the Town of the Cow on its list of “8 Underappreciated American Cities You Need to Check Out This Year.”

“It’s cattle legacy (the city’s nickname is literally Cow Town) is alive and well thanks to a daily cattle drive of longhorns stomping through the Historic Stockyards District, which is also where you can still get a feel for Texas’ famous cowboy culture — honky-tonks, boots, and all,” according to the story.

Fort Worth share the list with Oklahoma City, Baltimore (which briefly wanted our police chief), Greenville, S.C., Sacramento, Reno, Grand Rapids and Louisville, Kentucky.

The Thrillist folks sound like they’ve read the Fort Worth Business Press too, noting that the Stockyards is undergoing a $175M renovation that includes the city’s first Shake Shack.

Aside from a nod to the city’s past, the article notes some events pointing to the future, such as the Fortress Festival, noting that the 2019 edition will have hip native son Leon Bridges as well as Chvrches and Tinashe. And they also shout out to the new Dickies Arena and the new TEXRail service to the airport.

No reason to feel neglected.
