Kay Fortson, president of the Kimbell Art Foundation was named the 2013 Great Women of Texas last night at the Fort Worth Business Press’ Great Women of Texas event. The event, held at the Fort Worth Club, attracted more than 300 and was sponsored by OmniAmerican Bank. Fortson was honored for her work with the Kimbell Art Foundation and the Kimbell Art Museum, which will unveil a major addition on Nov. 27. The new Renzo Piano Pavilion will mark Fortson’s legacy in the development of the Cultural District. “I accepted the responsibility of the museum as a duty,” says Fortson. “I couldn’t leave it to the next generation. They weren’t there. They couldn’t feel about the Kahn building like I do. The Kahn is a masterpiece, but we were out of room.”
