Gander Outdoors opening Fort Worth store

Gander Outdoors, formerly known as Gander Mountain, will be reopening in the Fort Worth market this spring, according to a company news release.

Known for his work on CNBC’s The Profit, Marcus Lemonis bought Gander Mountain assets in bankruptcy court in May 2017. He is now beginning to reopen many of the chain’s stores, and, according to the release, serve customers passionate about hunting, fishing, marine/water sports, camping, and active and shooting sports.

Gander Outdoors is owned by Camping World Holdings.

“It was important to me to bring the Gander Outdoors back to the wonderful community of Fort Worth because the employees were top notch and the store was a great performer serving the outdoor enthusiast community,” Lemonis, chairman of Camping World Holdings, said in the release. “In addition to the Fort Worth location, we are currently pursuing other locations for reopening and expansion and expect to announce additional locations and markets in the coming weeks.”

After purchasing the company, Lemonis said he intends his to operating stores “with a clear path to profitability,” the release stated. His company goal is to operate 70-plus locations.

According to the release, the company will be sharing details about grand opening event soon.

Plans are to opens the doors in Fort Worth in early April to early May. The new location at 6001 Quebec St. will add 55 jobs to the community in the 45,000 square foot outdoor retail, apparel, supply and service space.
